Francophone Film Festival

This was a local French Film Festival. This year was focused on the hardships that some French-speaking countries are having, with an emphasis on hunger. We developed the concept and tag-line, Food For Thought. We shoot the photography after enduring a lengthy process of actually getting a piece of real film to shoot.

I really enjoyed this project for several reasons.

One, I worked with someone that I haven't before - and that she has a completely different design sense than I did at the time. As an example our personal color palettes are nearly opposite from one another. So I was a bit nervous at first but the process for this project was awesome. Two different minds created more diverse sketches and sets of skills.

Second, the project was quick with a tight deadline. I enjoyed the speed and oddly enough the frustration of last minute organizations of finally finding a real piece of movie film to shoot for the photography.

Third, designing on a tight budget. Every design decision was also in reference to the best economic solution. We printed one color on three different colored papers. The postcard which was the direct mailing promotion for the event has the entire festival schedule on the back - quick reference and economic one-stop printing. We also cut a little over an inch off the poster so the printing files would fit closer on the printing press sheet - which ended up saving the client about fifteen-hundred dollars.

Forth, this photoshoot was one of the interesting and creative ones I have been on. We had an abstract idea of what the final form on the fork would be, but practice makes perfect. Nearly one hundreds photos were shot. If I had to revisit this project I would add an online campaign – full website and online social marketing (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, FFFound, etc...).
