Thesis: Space, Depth & Curiosity
My senior thesis went through many explorations and studies over a period of three months. Once we found a final topic which was peer-reviewed and discussed we spent five weeks researching, reading and drafting up one proposal after another - to clarify what our objectives were as well as our intentions. Followed by three visual explorations while still revising our proposal whenever necessary. A mid-term presentation was held in front of the entire design faculty and senior class.
After several class discussions and faculty meetings, final applications begun. The course ended with a process book, final application, our research process exposed as well as large presentation held in front of the entire design program.
Title:
Some Space, some depth and a side of curiosity.
Thesis Statement:
Energetic spatial characteristics can intensify a message by grabbing the audience's attention through implied reality and curiosity. Therefore design can activate, excite and even manipulate a message's theme though spatial relationships.
The final application was three journals that were given to fellow studentsto provoke discussion and exploration. Initial visual studies focused on the interaction between two-dimensional and three-dimensional spaces. Those later became more practical through simple die-cuts and folds.
